Fair Trade Products
Fair trade is a system established on the equitable exchange of products which ensures a higher price to producers and a higher wage for workers. The advantage found in fair trade negotiations is not the accumulation of wealth for the powerful but the empowerment of the poor to overcome poverty and achieve a sustainable living- and for many in areas of the world where there is very little economic opportunity except the sweatshops of the city. Fair trade strives to establish direct links between producer and consumer- eliminating so many middle-men profiting from the exchange returning more retail profit to the producer.

We maintain a small inventory of fair trade gifts to support the efforts of fair trade and continue the aims of the Globalfolks project

What Happened to Globalfolks.org?
The Globalfolks project required large amounts of funding to maintain inventory and keep up with overhead costs. As the Fair Share project has gained support, simply put we had to make a decision about which program had the most potential for success and where to put our limited funding and resources. Fair Share still maintians a small inventory of fair trade products, and may at some time in the future make them available through its website wedigfairshare.org. The proceeds from the sale of fair trade gifts benefit both artisans in developing countreis and the Fair Share Urban Garden program.

We offer Paypal because it is a secure online payment option for customers, and a low cost option for processing online transactions for us.
By using Paypal we save on costs of doing business online and pass those savings on to the artisans and programs that we support.
