The Fair Share urban garden site is located behind the Daytona Beach Lions Club building at 345 White Street, between Dunn Av. and International Speedway Blvd. The Fair Share demonstration garden was begun on the property of the Daytona Beach Lions Club in January 2009 as a hands-on learning project where volunteers have established numerous bio-intensive raised growing beds, many framed with reclaimed lumber; a series of simple compost bins; trellises; a spiral herb garden; and even our own hand-painted sundial! We are always happy to include the kids and the garden would not be complete without the large sandbox and tire swing beneath the shade tree!
During the spring of 2009 we partnered with the 4th graders at Longstreet Elementary School! The kids are awesome and have raised funds for us and have grown vegetable starts from seed in their classrooms! The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse has made the historic Lightkeepers garden space available to the kids and they formed the “Point of Light Garden Club” and are now growing fresh vegetables for donation to low-income families!

"Fair Share" is an Urban Garden Project of Salt of the Earth, Inc. a 501(c)-3 nonprofit organization. Our volunteers can raise food for low-income households in need and help install vegetable gardens in backyards, schools, churches, and other community groups. We also provide people with the opportunity to participate in a community garden if they would like their own space for growing fresh food for themselves!
